I mean, I'm with you, Wags, obviously. While I want to see Rubio in a Wolves jersey sooooooooooooooooo bad some day (he was #2 on my draft board this year), at the very, very least he'll be tremendous trade bait in two years, and at the most he'll be an incredible talent to a team that will hopefully after this year be adding another very high draft pick as well as some big money free agent, lord knows we'll have the cap space (I don't expect Kahn to let the Blount and Cardinal contracts to just expire for that very reason). Obviously, the Rubio situation didn't shake out in the best possible manner, both for on the court reasons and the reasons I covered in the post, but long term I think the Wolves are looking alright either way. If McHale were still around, he'd find a way to still fuck it up somehow, but I like this Kahn fellow.

If Rubio has as much potential as people think he will, this might work out great for the team. In 2011 you could add a dynamic point gaurd to a young core. You've got Jefferson, you add first rounders the next 2 seasons (assuming you pick top 10). You get Utah's and Charlotte's 1st round picks eventually plus some second rounders. Plus the Blount and Cardinal contracts could be traded for someone ala Eddy Curry and draft picks. Then in 2011 or 12 you have a roster with lots of guys on rookie deals plus the cap room to add another player with a big contract.

That should work right?
